- Assistant professor of Medicine at the Wayne State School of Medicine in Detroit Michigan
- He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio, Toledo and did his internship, residency and cardiology fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI
- Director of in-patient services and is cardiology director of the chest pain observation units at Henry Ford Hospital
-His area of clinical research includes cardiac biomarkers and the assessment of patients in the emergency department for possible acute coronary syndrome
- He has published > 90 manuscripts/editorials/abstracts in these areas and has spoken internationally on these subjects
- Dr McCord serves on the Acute Cardiac Committee of the American Heart Association
- Dr McCord is the immediate past president and sits on the board of trustees of the Society of Chest Pain Centers
- He also is a founding member of The Society of Chest Pain Centers and has served as chair of the accreditation and research committees
