Instructions for Lecturers

These instructions are for Lecturers and Round Table Participants that take part in the Sixfth Virtual Congress of Cardiology - 7VCC. They are divided into: Texts, Static Images, Moving (dynamic) Images, PowerPoint/OpenOffice presentations and similar files.

Following these instructions while preparing the lecture or case report will decrease both the complexity in editing and publication, and the mistakes.

We suggest printing them, to use them as a guide to prepare the material. The lectures and case reports are edited and published in the Web, and before being open to the general public, the address will be sent to the Author so that he/she may have access to the material and perform a quality control.

If any doubt should arise, or to send suggestions, please submit a message to Likewise, we are at your disposal in the same address for questions about images scanning and manipulation, etc.

The material should be sent to including, besides the material for publication proper, a brief CV (10 lines) and a picture of the author(s).

Note: all the submitted files should be for PC (not McIntosh).



The lectures and case reports may be submitted in any of the official languages of the congress: Spanish, Portuguese, and English. In the cases of lectures and case reports sent in Spanish or in Portuguese, we suggest to attach an English version as well.

To send the material of lectures and case reports, it is indispensable to separate the texts from the images and send the latter by e-mail as attached files in their original format.

  • The text should be sent in the following files: .DOC, .SXW or (preferably) .RTF
  • Font and format:
    • Title: Arial 14, bold, written in Upper and lower case.
    • Author(s): Arial 12, bold.
    • Place of origin: Arial 10, normal.
    • Body of the text: Arial 10, normal, single-spacing
    • Legends of figures: Arial 8, normal, single-spacing (see below)
    • Bibliographical references in the text: Arial 8, normal, between square brackets []
    • Bibliography: Arial 8, normal single-spacing.


Images may be static, such as graphs, pictures, etc., or in motion (dynamic), such as videos from echocardiograms, angiographies, ventriculograms, etc.

  • Static images
    • Static images should be apart from the text and sent as attached files in their own format.
    • Image formats: exclusively in .JPG or .GIF formats
    • The legends of each image should be included within the same file where the text is, in .DOC, .SXW or (preferably) .RTF format, included after the bibliography.
    • If to obtain the images, they have to be scanned, resolution should be equal or lower than 150 dpi.
    • Maximal sizes in pixels: width 600, height 450 (if they are wider and/or higher, the possibility of splitting them should be considered).
  • Moving images
    • Moving (dynamic) images should be apart from the text and sent as attached files in their original format.
    • The legends of each image should be included within the same file where the text is, in .DOC, .SXW or (preferably) .RTF format, included after the bibliography.
    • Videos: the formats should be: .AVI or .MPG and each file should have a maximal size of 500 Kb.
    • Animated gifs: each file should have a maximal size of 300 Kb.
    • Files made in Flash may be used. Send only .fla format.
    • If the resulting files are larger than 5 Mb, send the material in a CD by conventional mail to 7CVC - Courreges 40 (3100) Parana, Entre Rios, ARGENTINA


PowerPoint, OpenOffice or similar presentations

  • Requirements
    • The presentations that are sent in PowerPoint or similar should have texts supplementing each slide (see the example). This requirement is based on our prior experience, where we observed that slides with text made understanding the exposition easier. Presentations without this requirement will not be accepted.
    • Presentations should have 50 slides at most, and the size of files should be 5 Mb at most.
    • Static images that are inserted in the presentation, should be sent exclusively in .JPG or .GIF formats.
    • Each slide should be numbered.
    • To make reading from the screen easier, and have a good printing quality, the slides should have:
      • up to ten lines of text
      • high contrast between the background and the text: the use of clear backgrounds (dark ones make printing more difficult and expensive), will plain colors, and no color shading.
      • If institutional logos or templates with designs are included, we suggest that no more than 10% of the width and/or height is used.
      • Tables: use PowerPoint routine: Insert > Table . Try to avoid importing tables from Word or others. Tables may be inserted in the graph format.
      • Graphs: preferably use the graph routines of PowerPoint, Excel, or OpenOffice. Graphs may also be inserted in the graph format. In the cases of bar, pie graphs, etc., the filling colors should be plain (not shaded) and the references should be clearly visible (consider that the slide will be a third of the monitor's screen).
    • For the text that should accompany each slide there are two possibilities:
      • Write the text in Word in .DOC, .SXW, or .RTF files, and send it as attached file, providing a number for each text.
      • Use the "Notes Pages" routine of PowerPoint or OpenOffice:
        • Generate the slides in the usual way.
        • Next, choose the menu "See" and then "Notes Pages"
        • Write in the notes window (inferior) the corresponding texts and save
        • Thus, the report for each slide is included in the PowerPoint file
        • Note: the order of the procedure must be followed: first generate the slide and then activate the notes page.
