The conditional Risk Factors (elevation: triglycerides, small LDL particles, homocysteine, lipoprotein (a), prothrombotic factors, fibrinogen, plasminogen-activator inhibitor type - and inflammatory markers – C reactive protein-) are associated with an increased risk of coronary heart disease, but without sufficient evidence of their contribution to causality (strength and independence of other risk factors) of the disease. Two reasons may respond to the failure to document causality of these factors: a potential atherogenic which is relatively small compared to the major risk factors, and / or low frequency in the population which makes it difficult to detect its relationship with independent and major CVD in prospective studies. While the AHA defined the predisposing factors (physical inactivity, psychosocial factors and ethnicity) as those that worsen the risk of independent risk factors. (return to the slide 2)
