Cordialmente.

NEWS FROM THE FORUM
On March 31st, 2000, the FVCC will end, but all the scientific material gathered in its web pages will remain published for future consults.  Since April 1st, 2000, the FVCC will be replaced by the CONTINUAL EDUCATION FORUM, that will remain until September, 2001, when the Second Virtual Congress of Cardiology (SVCC) will begin.
The main structure of the CONTINUAL EDUCATION FORUM will be built upon the base of the current Forums, including chagas-pcvc. Discussions about several aspects of the specialty and presentation of cases will continue.
The only important change for those who have subscribed to chagas-pcvc, will be that the activities will be only in Spanish, since it will not be possible to make translations for that period.
Cordially,

Dear Colleagues:
We have an ambulatory service for children's follow up (> 13 years) with positive serology (+) for Chagas disease. They were treated (not all of them) with BENZNIDAZOL, and now they undergo clinical revision, serologic tests, ECG, and echocardiogram for control.

Dr Bassino :

Dr. Bassino:
I would like to express the following concern.
In year 1987, a congress of cardiology was held and organized by the FAC in Salta, to which I was lucky to attend, and there the following conclusions were reached: a Latin-American and Experts in Chagas. Patient with positive serology for Chagas and without heart disease, only cardiac watch was carried out. This management is still followed?
If the patient had positive serology, and was a newborn baby, a 30-day treatment was performed with Beznidazol in the known doses, and there was serologic cure.
If the patient had positive serology and arrhythmia, s/he was treated with specific antiarrhythmic agents for each one of them, no antichagasic agents were used. And if s/he had CHF, the classical medication was employed. I would like to know your commentaries, and what is being done nowadays.
Thanks,
Rosendo
PS: In my country there are people stigmatized by this social disease, and many colleagues are anti-ethical and make deceitful
treatments. Many thanks for your commentaries.
